I've been taking photos since a youngster in the Seventies, so have acquired an extensive catalogue over the decades. As you'll note from the images, I have a preference for close ups and macros, seascapes and abstracts (including many of rust & paint.) To convey mood in the Seascapes, I generally use a very slow shutter speed in the hour or so after sunset - this affords not only a beautiful soft light, but it enables me to capture the water as blurred and thus permits a heightened sense of motion. Generally my photos are "untouched" but occasionally I try my hand at a photo-based digital manipulation or, more recently, abstract fractals. I use a Canon SLR with an extensive array of lenses and filters, as well as a smaller Canon and Nikon when unable to carry the heavier gear. Most of my processing is done in Adobe Photoshop CS5. The majority of my photos are now digital, however, some of the earlier shots were taken with 35mm cameras and converted to digital by my laboratory using a top of the range Nikon scanner. I also print and sell the fractal wallpaper on request.
As a hobby, I sell unmounted prints from small to large and not just on photographic paper, utilising Fine Art paper and Canvas too. I deal with a number of Fine Art and Stock agencies that represent me in the advertising and design industry. I am always happy to speak with creative directors wishing to acquire rights to my work (I can send you a low resolution presentation), or individuals who might be interested in purchasing prints.  anything that could be used as wallpapers when I realized it's quite a shame all of these images are so low res. And I realize that it's basically VN tradition to be run in a window at the size of 800x600, but that doesn't make it less of a shame that such good art is basically impossible to use as wallpapers.

Well, I decided I'd go against the system, load up my Photoshop CS6 and open up what I could find and do my best to upscale it to 1920x1080 while maintaining at least some level of the original quality. Believe me, that's a hard task to do when you resize something almost three times its original size.

Luckily, I managed to get some decent progress at least.
I stuck with only the event CG, as the sprites don't exactly make for Wallpaper material. There's scene CG from every main character; Emi, Rin, Hanako, Shizune and Lilly, as well as some wallpapers for Hisao, Kenji and Misha. A lot of these are groupshots, and luckily those were large enough to upscale without any major issue, where as those with only one character in them tended to be lower res and thus harder to work with.
(I realize there's a bias towards Hanako in this but YOU WILL ALL HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT.)

They're all PG. I didn't work with any of the sex scenes under the train of thought that it's unusual for people to want nudity as their desktop wallpaper. Feel free to object!

Of course, given that they ARE after all upscaled, there will be quality loss. But hopefully I managed to remove too much of the upscaling damage. Don't worry, though, they're all the same aspect ratio, and cropped to fit the widescreen.
well, if you're cropping a portrait image to a landscape, then you're basically creating a derivative work of art(assuming that's what the original is), since you are choosing what part of the image gets deleted and what is kept, in effect changing the focus of the piece. and if you're doing that, you might as well create 2 of them and upload both 1200 and 1080, because if you're creating the 1200 to upload, why not create your own version of the 1080 too? people using 1080 are free to download the 1200 and crop their own 1080, but if you feel that the image should be cropped in a certain way...

or you could just leave the portrait as it is while uploading and let others crop as they are wont. that way you're not creating a derivative work, you're only sharing. personally, i think if i were a photographer or some such, i would not mind, sharing of my work as much as the distortion of the vision.

cropping for personal use is different of course... its akin to what you focus on naturally when you see an image..its what pops out to you. it's based on the individual's perception of an artist's work.
